The White Pine Genomic Resource Workshop
Cottage Grove, Oregon
October 21-22, 2008
David Neale and Kathie Jermstad
The workshop was held at the Dorena Genetic Resource Center, and hosted by Richard Sniezko (USDA Forest Service, Region 6). The first day consisted of short of program research in the morning and a brain-storming session in the afternoon, delineating the types of research we would like to see accomplished. Most research was focused on the white pines and interaction with C. ribicola and climate. Research objectives were also directed to biology of C. ribicola, its alternative hosts and other pests such as mountain pine beetle.
Discussions continued over dinner Tuesday evening at the Village Green Resort. Capitulation of ideas continued on the following day until adjournment at noon. An outline and timeline for a white paper were formulated. A tour of the Dorena Genetic Research facility concluded the meeting.
