Field Trip
75th Anniversary Celebration at the
Institute of Forest Genetics

The field trip will include a presentation on the history of forest genetics by staff and by members of the Eddy family, who began the Institute as the Eddy Tree Breeding Station. A sample of the local wineries will accompany a tour that features the Institute’s current research, its international activities, and a chance to revisit classic tests, such as the 1938 elevational transect study of ponderosa pine. In addition, we hope that many of the Institute’s “alumni”, who figured prominently in the development of forest genetics, will be invited to share their recollections. The evening will end with a grand barbecue.
